It's not knitting...

...but it's yummy crafting goodness!!

The holidays are coming, and what better way to celebrate than pick out a couple of projects it will take a miracle to get done on time.  To make matters worse, they are projects for Sebastian, so I can only work on them when he is at school or when he is in bed.  Kind of a bummer with work mixed in there.  The squares are for a rag quilt I'm making him, related to his favorite video game, Minecraft.    Now that the squares are cut, I'm going to start piecing it together this week, with a goal to sew it the next week, fringe it the week after.  THEN, I'll start the other Minecraft project I have in mind for him.

The bad thing about this is that my own sewing machine is in need of a service.  It must have known what I was going to put it through.  I'm very sad.  I'm even more sad about the cost to have it serviced by an authorized Bernina dealer.  Unbelievable.  And also not in the budget right now with the holidays coming up.

The good thing is that I have my mom's trusty machine.  Her machine is also a Bernina, as old as I am, and a real workhorse.  I talk to it gently and pet it so it doesn't croak on me, hah.

That being said, I have also been knitting.  I have a sock going, (I always have a sock on the needles, it seems) and I've been knitting up dishcloths like they're going out of style.  The thing I like about a sock or a dishcloth is that I can knit on them between calls when I'm working without much worry about making a mistake in the pattern.  I'm working to make matched sets for the holidays, and if I have time I'd like to make some coordinating scrubbies to go with them.  There I go again though, putting a lot on my plate.

Today was the first day that almost felt like fall...but only just a little bit.  It seems like summer came around late for us.  Yesterday was such a hot and humid day, we were miserable.  Today though, was cooler, and really windy.  Perhaps a sign that fall is really on its way.  It really feels like summer was only here a couple weeks.  I'm already missing the trips to the park, the lake and the beach we took over the summer, and I'm really looking forward to summer already!

Sebastian is already in his routine for school and seems to be really enjoying his classes, which is really important.  He enjoys going to school every day, which makes a big difference!

Take care, everyone!!
