Fall is here...

It's that time of the year again. We have picked and carved our pumpkins and we're ready for Halloween. I can finally take Clara through the Halloween section of Target without her freaking out and announcing that she is scared. While she was really excited about the pumpkin patch last year, she was not so into it this year. She was more interested in the animals they have at the farm, so she and I broke away and headed off to see the sheep, the goats, the peacocks and as Clara puts it "the chickums".

It's starting to get a bit chillier at night...I've had to actually turn the heat on a few times. Sebastian still refuses to wear anything heavier than a hoodie over his clothes in the morning on his way to the bus. I guess all the cool kids now stand at the bus stop without coats, freezing their asses off these days.

We are slowly getting Sebastian into the middle school life. Honestly, it's been scarier for me than it's been for him. He's having a few issues with adjusting, mostly issues with handing completed assignments in on time. I'm guessing that his teachers don't outwardly ask for the assignments and he just forgets to turn them in, or he doesn't ask about turning them in. Either way, he's the first kid I've ever known that has gone to school with his homework done, but doesn't turn it in. And much to his dismay, I can log into the school website and check his grades whenever I want.

He had his first school dance last week. How bizarre that is, for me. It doesn't seem so long ago that I was going to my own junior high dances and now I have a kid going to them. Only now, they don't have the dances at night like they did when I was a kid. His dance was right after school. I thought that was weird! It was kind of funny to be in the parking lot as the kids were leaving the dance and watching Sebastian tower over every kid there. I'm pretty sure that he's one of the tallest kids in his class. He's about my height now, and his voice is deep enough to scare the crap out of me when he calls me, because there's a split second where I wonder who the hell this man is that's calling me Mom.

I got my grade back from my Statistics class. Really all I wanted to do was pass the stupid thing because I was terrified to even take the class. I have heard so many horror stories about statistics, and I have such a horrible time with math anyway that I pretty much figured I was screwed. I ended up getting an A- in the class. It's my first class that I've taken this entire program that I didn't get an 'A' in, but that's okay. It was a miserable class, it consumed my life for 5 weeks, and some folks I know were not able to pass the class, so I'll take this grade, because I have another algebra class coming up in a couple more classes that's sure to be even more miserable.

I'm pretty excited for the weekend. I have a hot date with Thomas! He's coming over on Sunday and I'm going to make dinner. I can't wait.

Have a great weekend!
